Professional Learning Committee
The AASL Professional Learning Committee is responsible for the content organization, development and marketing of AASL’s online digital professional development. The PLC is reviews AASL’s online professional development content annually to weed content that is no longer relevant and/or outdated and consider topics or areas of interest for future materials. Additionally, the PLC will identify gaps in content. The PLC will also develop a marketing plan for AASL members, with a focus on the member benefit of AASL’s online professional development content.
Deliverables & Outcomes
- Review AASL’s online professional development content annually to weed content that is no longer relevant and/or outdated.
- Consider topics or areas of interest in which materials of varying formats could be packaged for consumption.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan for AASL members, with a focus on the member benefit of AASL’s online professional development content, as well as non-members with a focus on availability to purchase on an as need basis.
- Recommend possible areas for content development by identifying gaps in content.
Estimated Time Commitment
The committee meets monthly during the AASL governance year of July 1 through June 30 and meetings are held virtually. (10 hours)
Some work outside of committee meetings is expected. (5-7 hours)

Skills, Knowledge, or Experience
Preferred: Familiarity with AASL standards, marketing experience, understanding of new and emerging trends in school librarianship.
Committee Composition & Term Length
One chair, serving a one-year term.
Minimum of six members, each serving two-year terms.
